BELLEVILLE, April 27, 2012 - QHC's Crisis Intervention Centre is celebrating 25 years of providing service to adults and youth in our community.
The Centre Intervention Centre first opened its doors on April 15, 1987, and during that first year, approximately 300 people received counseling support and services. This past year, approximately 3000 individuals were seen, more than 8700 callers received services, and there were over 2500 referrals made.
Dr. Robert Webster, Medical Director, Mental Health, Rehab/ Complex Continuing Care said, "We're celebrating 25 years of helping people - mothers, fathers, grandparents and youth who require immediate or short term assistance. For the past 25 years, the Crisis Intervention Centre was and continues to be there for the people in our communities."
The Crisis team responds to crisis calls, offers emergency mental health support and short-term crisis resolution. Telephone response by a crisis worker is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by dialing 310-OPEN.
