The main ( Hastings) entrance at QHC Belleville General Hospital has reopened just in time to accommodate another entrance change at the hospital. As construction of the new Emergency department continues at QHC BGH, those entering the Emergency area from the outside of the building will notice some changes. A newly constructed entrance is being used as a temporary drop off and entrance for Emergency patients and ambulances. (The new, temporary entrance is approximately 135 feet to the left of the previous emergency entrance when facing the building from the outside).
For those requiring emergency access to care, we continue to encourage them to enter through the Emergency entrance. However, in an effort to keep our patients and visitors safe and to avoid congestion, visitors and those not requiring emergency care are asked to enter the hospital through the main ( Hastings) entrance or Sills entrance whenever possible. "The area outside of the temporary Emergency entrance is still a construction area, and pedestrians who are accessing the Emergency department are encouraged to do so from the main entrance or Sills entrance of the building when possible and to avoid walking through the construction area," said Bill Andrews, Director, Capital Projects.
Those accessing the Emergency area/Patient Registration from the main ( Hastings) entrance or Sills entrance, will experience very little, if any, change. The Patient Registration desk will remain where it is and the Emergency waiting room will remain unaffected.
The new Emergency Department is expected to be completed late April, 2013.
The main ( Hastings) entrance reopened early Monday morning (June 4), which was closed for a three-week period in order to finish the new oncology space, registration area and to accommodate renovations to the main entrance
