"My dad was transferred to BGH ICU on January 5th. He was suspected positive and the majority of my family had also tested positive for COVID making it impossible for them to visit him.
I encountered nurses Emma and Kaitlin, and Dr. Howatt, in the ICU and they treated me like I was the only person who needed to be spoken to at that moment, even though they were busy and their shifts were coming to an end. They explained every detail, listening to concerns and offering support to myself and my family who were unable to be there. My sister was able to get to the hospital as well and we were both given PPE and directions on how to properly put it on so we could be with my dad at the end of his life.
Nurses Grace and Saprina, who were tending to his needs when I arrived, were so gentle and kind.
I really just want to say Thank You to all of them and the rest of the ICU staff who worked hard making room for them to spend that time with me/my family. During a really difficult time in the world, and in my life, I found a space where kindness made everything seem just a bit more manageable. Thank you.”
