Job Title:  Nurse Practitioner - MRP 

Salary:  $53.75 - $64.62/Hour 

Job Status: Permanent Full Time 

Hours:  8-12 hour shifts, including weekends 

Union:  ONA 

We are pleased to offer a $25,000 financial incentive through the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) to qualifying applicants. To qualify you must: 
• Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired, 
• Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario, 
• Begin employment no later than March 31, 2024, 
• Commit to 24-months of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer, and 
• Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health Tuition Support Program for Nurses 

Position Summary 

The NP (Nurse Practitioner) is an advanced practice nurse leader functioning in an expanded nursing role as Most Responsible Provider (MRP) for our post-acute patients. The NP-MRP practices autonomously to their full scope of practice, collaborating as necessary with the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physician teams, with support from the larger interprofessional team.  

Responsibilities 

The NP-MRP identifies solutions for complex healthcare issues for patients within Belleville General Hospital and/or Trenton Memorial Hospital’s post-acute units (rehab, complex continuing care, assess and restore, and/or alternate level of care). The NP-MRP is responsible for admission, discharge, documentation, assessments, diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals and performing procedures within the legislated scope of practice.  

In addition to direct clinical care, the NP-MRP leads the development and implementation of applicable clinical guidelines and protocols, promotes the use of research and evidence-based practice, provides expert support and consultation, and facilitates system change. The NP-MRP demonstrates sound communication skills, champions person and family centered-care, advocates for vulnerable patients and their caregivers, and provides support and education to the interprofessional team.  

Qualifications 

  • Master's Degree in Nursing 

  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Extended Class (RN-EC), NP Adult preferred, or Primary Health Care NP Certificate with relevant hospital experience 

  • A minimum of 3 years of acute in-patient or critical care nursing experience 

  • Able to prescribe controlled substances as authorized by CNO 

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificates 

  • Experience as NP-MRP is preferred but not mandatory
