Code Grey

A Code Grey is activated if the hospital experiences loss of utilities, such as power, telecommunications, sanitary sewage discharge, potable water, or closure of fresh air intakes, resulting in the potential loss of use of hospital facilities. A Code Grey is managed by mobilizing medical, nursing, and support personnel, as well as supplies and equipment. Notification of a utility failure, if not evident internally, will usually occur from a public authority (ambulance, fire or police or the Facility Services Office) to the Emergency Department or Switchboard.
