Code Green

In the event that an area of the hospital is deemed unsafe, a Code Green is activated to ensure a quick and safe evacuation of the affected area. There are three main strategies that support an evacuation: horizontal, vertical and hospital-wide evacuation. The chosen strategy is dependent on the nature of the emergency and is determined by the Incident Commander.

If you are required to evacuate, the following actions are required:

• Remain calm
• Do not enter the affected area
• If within the affected area, stay with your caregiver, family or support person
