QHC participates in organ donor registration drive Beadonor.ca

Quinte Health Care is participating in the Beadonor organ donor registration drive April 20 – 24 and we’re encouraging you to register too!

(look for the red button on the page that says "Register or Check now with Service Ontario")

Many of us have already expressed our wishes to our loved ones on whether or not we would like to be an organ and/or tissue donor. The Trillium Gift of Life Network has made it easier for Ontarians to register their consent online.

Trillium Gift of Life Network was created to help save and enhance lives by increasing organ and tissue donation for transplantation in Ontario. Quinte Health Care is participating in the organ donor registration drive and you too can register through our registration page. It only takes two minutes to register.  It doesn't require donating any money or dedicating more than two minutes of your time. All you need to participate is your health card.

One organ donor can save up to eight lives. At any given time in Ontario, 1,500 men, women and children are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Every three days one of them dies waiting.

There’s a good chance you already support this cause – 80 per cent of Ontarians say that giving consent for organ and tissue donation in advance is very important to them yet only 26 per cent have actually registered to be organ and tissue donor. Many Ontarians mistakenly believe they are registered because they previously signed a paper donor card. Please check to make sure you are indeed registered.

If you are not yet convinced, watch this inspirational video to learn more. If you have questions about organ and tissue donation or want to learn more, visit the frequently asked questions page by clicking here.

We hope you decide to participate.
