Psychiatry

Quinte Health Care (QHC) is a multi-site hospital that provides primary and secondary services to a diverse catchment area of approximately 150,000 people in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County. The Corporate District covers 7,000 square kilometres and is made up of both urban and rural areas. There are currently 255 inpatient beds.

Opportunities

Acute Care Psychiatric/Mental Health Services are provided at QHC Belleville General as a Schedule One facility under the Mental Health Act. This program includes: inpatient, outpatient, day hospital, emergency services, consultations, and educational services to the community. In addition to the Schedule One services, our spectrum of care includes an Assertive Community Treatment Team, a Crisis Centre, and a Parent, Child, and Youth Clinic. Our Psychiatry team provides 24 hour call coverage with the assistance of family physicians who have a special interest and training in Psychiatry. QHC Belleville General currently has 28 psychiatric/mental health beds. The department is attached to the Department of Psychiatry at Queen's University as an Academic Unit and provides training to residents and students. The Chief of Psychiatry and Director of the Academic Unit is a Professor at Queen's University and interested applicants can have an appointment from Queen's based on their qualifications and experience.
