Parent, Child and Youth Clinic

The Parent, Child and Youth Clinic is an outpatient Children's Mental Health Program and is a satellite program of Quinte Health Care, Department of Psychiatry Outpatients and is funded by The Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Click here to view the Parent Child and Youth Program brochure.

The clinic, which on average has approximately 300 new referrals each year,serves children and youth 15 years and younger with acute behavioural, emotional, social, developmental or family problems. Clients often require multiple hospital treatment services. The clinic provides specialized services to children and youth with autism/pervasive developmental disorder, attention deficit and disruptive behaviour disorders, oppositional/defiant disorder, conduct disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and dual diagnosis - medical/psychiatric. A wide spectrum of services are provided to address the specific needs of the child and family. Staff work with the families of these children as well.

The clinic co-ordinates and integrates services within a multi-disciplinary team with other hospital services and with the community and provides specialized mental health services customized to families' needs.

Our multidisciplinary team includes a Program Coordinator, Social Workers, Child & Youth Workers, a Psychiatrist, a Psychometrist, a Psychiatric Nurse, Teachers, an Education Assistant (provided by the Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board), Secretary, hospital volunteers, and high school co-op students.

Referral and Service Delivery

We encourage direct referrals from any individual or family wishing assistance. Support for referrals are accepted from physicians, schools and other community agencies.

The Parent, Child & Youth Clinic is located in the Cavell Building at 245 Dundas Street East and draws its clientele from Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. There is a sub office located in the Trenton Hospital and in Picton at Community Living Prince Edward and the Day Treatment Program is located at Sir John A. MacDonald School at 22 Harder Drive in Belleville.
