Oncology Clinic

The Oncology Services at QHC function in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario and works in collaboration with the Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario, the South East Regional Cancer Program including the Palliative Care and End of Life Network.
The model is a consultative service consisting of an inter-professional team including a medical oncologist (cancer specialist), pharmacists, registered nurses, registered dietitians and a pain and symptom management nurse consultant. Other supportive and community services are available as needed.

Services provided include diagnosis, care planning, treatment, follow-up, psycho-social and emotional support, pain and symptom management and survivorship.

Cancer treatment at QHC consists of the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy "closer to home”. Patients that may require radiation treatment will be referred to a regional cancer program. Supportive care therapies are also provided such as blood transfusions. The team works closely with the patient/family to navigate the cancer system locally and regionally.
