County Festival of Trees 2012

Once again this year, the County Festival of Trees was a great success, and our net proceeds were nearly $30,000. This was the 19th Festival (5th with the PECM Hospital Auxiliary) and the emphasis was to ensure that this event stays a County tradition and remains a family event. Next year, the PECM Hospital Auxiliary is looking forward to the celebration of the 20th Festival. Click here for more information.

A proud moment for the PECMH Auxiliary!! President Fran Donaldson cuts the ribbon, marking the successful completion of the PECMH Foundation's 750 thousand dollar digital imaging equipment campaign! The Auxiliary raised 1/3 of the total, contributing $250,000! Thanks to all the committed volunteers and Auxiliary supporters for making this substantial contribution possible.

Susan Law, Past President of the PECM Hospital Auxiliary, received her Provincial Life Membership in the Hospital Auxiliary of Ontario from Elaine Meharg, President of the Hospital Auxiliaries of Ontario on November 6 in Toronto. Sue was nominated in the Leadership category in recognition of the many responsibilities she has undertaken since joining our Picton Auxiliary and also in Ottawa before moving to the County. She is still active as a volunteer in the dialysis clinic and with the upcoming Festival of Trees.

The Fall General Meeting was held at the Picton Golf and County Club on Thursday, October 18th. Highlights included the presentation of a cheque for $50,000, which completes the Auxiliary's $250,000 commitment to the digital imaging campaign at QHC Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital!

Thanks to our guest speaker at the meeting, Acting Sergeant Anthony Mann, who will be the County's new Community Service Officer as of January 2013. Sgt. Mann addressed the members concerning what we all can do to keep ourselves safe. Topics included internet and telephone scams, as well as other safety issues.
  • The recruitment open house took place at the Picton Hospital on Thursday, October 11, and was very successful indeed, with a number of people showing interest in joining our organization. Click here for photo.
  • On Saturday, October 6th, the PECM Hospital Auxiliary held a juried craft show at the Lipson Room, with all proceeds going to support our hospital and our community. Click here for our Craft Sale in Review!
  • Prince Edward County Hospital Auxiliary Inc. awards three scholarships annually to deserving secondary school graduates who live in Prince Edward County. This year, thanks to the generosity of the Auxiliary Board, we were able to award an additional scholarship to another qualifying student! Click here for the story and photos!

Auxiliary representatives proudly join staff in the newly renovated staff lounge at QHC PECMH. The renovation was made possible thanks to the fundraising concert held last year in memory of country musician, the late Zeke Mazurek combined with the Auxiliary's outstanding generosity!
