Permanent Full and Part Time Opportunities Quinte Health Care Belleville General Hospital

Quinte Health Care Belleville General

The four hospitals of Quinte Health Care (QHC) provide primary and secondary services to a population of 160,000 in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The region, which has become one of Canada's most desired locations to live, includes a number of diverse and culturally rich urban and rural communities within an area defined by both its pastoral settings and its proximity to a multitude of waterways. Located on the beautiful Bay of Quinte less than two hours from Toronto, Belleville has a remarkable heritage and a strong sense of community. Its residents enjoy some of the best arts and recreational opportunities in Ontario, and the abundance of celebrated chefs and award-winning wineries make for an unparalleled culinary experience. For more information and a map of the area, please visit: www.quinte.on.ca.

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Quinte Health Care Belleville General is seeking additional emergency medicine physicians to join their existing team. The Belleville General Emergency Department sees over 38,000 cases annually, and members receive outstanding remuneration based on our AFA. Physicians benefit from an exceptional group of dedicated emergency nurses and 24 hour support from family medicine, internal medicine, intensive care, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, pediatrics, anesthesia, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, otolaryngology, and radiology. The ER physicians have access to state of the art diagnostic equipment including ER Ultrasound, a 64 multi-slice CT scanner with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and an MRI. Moreover, our local tertiary care facility - Kingston General Hospital - is only 45 minutes away and provides excellent support as our regional site for neurosurgery, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, and definitive trauma care. Considering our proximity to Kingston, and the recent development of a Belleville-Quinte Family Medicine Program, several emergency physicians are affiliated with Queen's University as Assistant Professors and regularly participate in resident training. And lastly, in a truly exciting development, as of June 2013 the Belleville General Emergency Department will move to a newly constructed facility simply unrivalled in the region.

We presently have 8 full-time and 12 part-time physicians, and are looking for additional emergency physicians with CCFP (EM) or FRCPC designations and/or extensive emergency medicine experience. Applicants must be current with ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
