Ontario Planning New Hospital in Picton
Province Improving Access to Health Care for Families in Prince Edward County
Ontario is supporting Quinte Health Care to plan for a new hospital in Picton so that patients and their families continue to have access to quality health care closer to home.
Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, was in Picton today to announce that the province is providing a grant to help plan for a redevelopment of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.
This project would result in a new, modern facility that would include improved infection prevention, patient and family experience and staff safety. Support from the province will also help Quinte Health Care to:
Building and expanding hospitals is part of Ontario’s plan to create fairness and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. The plan includes a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, easier access to affordable child care, and free prescription drugs for everyone under 25 through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation.
