|Quinte Health Care MRI upgrade complete|

Quinte Health Care’s MRI upgrade is complete and the Quinte region now has a new and improved MRI machine that will effectively serve the community for years to come.
Quinte Health Care’s MRI machine, located at Belleville General Hospital, had reached the end of its lifespan and all of the working parts, excluding the magnet, were replaced to maintain efficient and high-calibre service for patients needing this diagnostic tool.
Every aspect of the MRI image development has been updated to further enhance the established baseline of excellent image quality at QHC.
“The upgraded technology now available at Quinte Health Care preserves my confidence in my technologist and radiologist team to provide our expected standard of MRI diagnostic excellence,” said Dr. Annette Polanski, Lead MRI Radiologist, QHC.
The upgraded machine offers faster scan times and is quieter than the previous machine. It also features a moveable, ergonomically-sound patient table, improving safety for patients and staff members when imaging patients with mobility issues.
“We are very pleased with our upgraded MRI machine,” said Mark Coulter, Director of Diagnostic Imaging. “The short, six-week downtime required to complete the vital upgrade was just a blip in our established and continuing history of providing fast, effective imaging for our community.”
The upgrade has been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the foundations supporting QHC hospitals: Belleville General Hospital Foundation, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and North Hastings Fund Development Committee.
